Lycopene Proposed for Inclusion in Health Food Filing Ingredient Catalog
According to the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and CCTV.com, in April, SAMR issued the Catalog of Health Food Ingredients – Lycopene (Draft for Comment), proposing to include lycopene in the health food filing ingredient catalog and soliciting public comments.
Lycopene is a type of carotenoid. The draft covers four forms of the ingredient: tomato extract, oleoresin, purified extract, and synthetic lycopene. It specifies the daily dosage and technical requirements, with the corresponding health function of “lycopene supplementation,” defined as “helping enhance immunity and providing antioxidant support.”
This adjustment will make lycopene the 11th functional ingredient under filing management, following coenzyme Q10, fish oil and others. Relevant products may shift from registration to filing, potentially shortening their time to market.
The deadline for submitting comments is May 10, 2026.

Among them, DCI (D-chiro-inositol), an active ingredient derived from carob, has moved from professional nutrition journals to public attention, appearing frequently in the ingredient lists of various women’s wellness foods.
As the signature component of carob extract, DCI acts as a key signaling molecule in insulin signal transduction within the human body.It is therefore also referred to as an insulin sensitizer or a second messenger of insulin.
