Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is a polycyclic compound containing trivalent cobalt and is the only B-vitamin that contains a metal element. It plays several important physiological roles in the human body:
-
Promotes Red Blood Cell Production
Vitamin B12 is a key coenzyme in the synthesis of hemoglobin and participates in the maturation of red blood cells in the bone marrow, helping prevent megaloblastic anemia. A deficiency of vitamin B12 can impair DNA synthesis in red blood cells and lead to pernicious anemia. -
Maintains Nervous System Health
Vitamin B12 is involved in the synthesis and repair of the myelin sheath of nerve cells, protecting nerve fibers. Deficiency may result in peripheral neuropathy, memory decline, and even cognitive impairment. It also helps synthesize neurotransmitters such as serotonin, influencing mood and sleep. -
Participates in DNA Synthesis
As a cofactor of methyltransferases, vitamin B12 is involved in the replication and repair of DNA, which is essential for normal cell metabolism and division.

Fatty acid balance may be more important than supplementing a single nutrient. Based on this understanding, product strategies in the market have also shifted. For example, De3 Omega Benefits from PRN (Physician Recommended Nutriceuticals) focuses on providing high-purity, more bioavailable triglyceride-form (rTG) Omega-3, and is recommended by many ophthalmologists for supporting dry-eye management. Another product, Ocuvite Adult 50+, combines Omega-3 with lutein, zeaxanthin, and other ingredients, reflecting a formulation approach based on synergistic effects.
Berry extracts rich in anthocyanins are emerging as a powerful new force in eye health. European bilberry extract has been shown in multiple randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies to effectively relieve visual fatigue in VDT (visual display terminal) workers. A study published in the Journal of Nutrition, Health and Aging found that consuming 480 mg of bilberry extract daily for 8 weeks significantly reduced subjective symptoms such as eye fatigue, eye pain, and heaviness.
Maqui berry from Chile’s Patagonian plateau has also shown outstanding performance in improving dry-eye symptoms.

In recent years, amid the wave of sugar reduction and control, sugar-free tea has swept across the beverage market, and white sugar almost disappeared from ingredient lists overnight. Even in beverages that still contained sugar, white sugar was gradually replaced by sugar substitutes such as erythritol and sucralose, giving up its traditional place on the label.
However, during this year’s peak beverage season, a number of traditional beverage companies launched new products in which white sugar has once again appeared on ingredient lists. The renewed acceptance of white sugar is driven by upgraded consumer understanding of health, a more balanced approach to taste preferences, and traditional brands reshaping their products — all of which have contributed to the return of this “old friend.”
During the recently concluded peak season, competition among major brands was intense, and attentive consumers noticed that the once-familiar white sugar had quietly made its way back into the ingredients list.
Back in 2018, Genki Forest introduced sugar-free flavored sparkling water, igniting a fierce market battle for sugar-free beverages. As major brands and manufacturers followed the trend, white sugar gradually disappeared from ingredient lists.
With the support of erythritol, products achieved a sweetness that was lighter and less cloying than that of white sugar — just enough sweetness to ease the anxiety of consumers trying to control their sugar intake.

“I still prefer the red background.”
After the 34 Tomatoes Heinz ad went viral, a Heinz representative added Li Dan on social media. Once the friend request was accepted, the first thing Li Dan said was that he insisted on using the “red background.” Li Dan is the founder of Heaven & Hell, the creative agency behind this Heinz ketchup campaign. He cared deeply about whether the background should be red or light-colored, even posting on Xiaohongshu to ask for public feedback. “Seventy-thirty — the majority supported red,” he told FBIF.
Because of the campaign’s sudden popularity, the persistent Li Dan has recently found himself dealing with a series of “sweet troubles.”
The ad originated from a pitch Heaven & Hell participated in last June. At first, they presented four creative ideas for Heinz. But the day before the pitch, Li Weiyi (Grunt), a Gen Z art director who had been on the verge of resigning, proposed a new concept based on the “tomato meme.” With over two decades of experience and numerous awards, veteran ad creator Li Dan immediately recognized the potential hidden within the somewhat abstract sketches. He spent another half day refining the idea, and brought it to the pitch the next day — eventually leading to the now-viral 34 Tomatoes campaign.
