This botanical "living fossil" is quietly leading Japan's brain health market.
Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba L.) is the only extant species in the division Ginkgophyta and is hailed as a "living fossil" in the plant kingdom. China possesses over 70% of the world's ginkgo resources.
Ginkgo flavonoid glycosides are important active components of ginkgo leaves. Ginkgo leaf extract contains about 24% flavonoid glycosides, including quercetin glycosides, isorhamnetin, and kaempferol glycosides. Dopamine (DA) and acetylcholine (ACh) are crucial neurotransmitters in the brain that regulate mood and cognitive function.
Studies have found that quercetin glycosides and kaempferol glycosides in ginkgo leaf extract can significantly increase the levels of dopamine and acetylcholine in the brain, thereby improving cognitive function.
In Japan, ginkgo leaf is one of the popular ingredients in the brain health sector. According to Food Research Institute FTA, as of September 2, 2025, among Japan's Foods with Function Claims (FFC), approximately 795 products claim to improve cognitive function or sleep quality. Among these, 222 products contain both ginkgo flavonoid glycosides and ginkgo terpene lactones, making its usage frequency higher than that of DHA (found in 174 products).

Functions of Ep–probiotics
• Core Efficacy: Supplementing beneficial gut microbiota, maintaining intestinal flora balance, supporting digestive system health, enhancing immunity (most immune cells are located in the gut).
• After antibiotic treatment: Antibiotics kill harmful bacteria but also a large number of beneficial gut bacteria. Taking probiotics can help rebuild intestinal flora balance and alleviate diarrhea potentially caused by antibiotics.
• Digestive issues: Used to relieve intestinal discomfort such as bloating, constipation, diarrhea, or indigestion.
• Enhancing immunity: Supports normal immune system function by balancing intestinal flora.
• During travel: Prevents "traveler's diarrhea" caused by changes in diet and environment.
• As daily health supplement: Many people use it as a daily supplement for maintaining long-term intestinal health.

Sweet Revolution: How is Layn Natural Ingredients Leveraging the Billion-Dollar Sugar-Free Market?
Testing has found that about 50% of yeast's dry weight is protein, and it is high-quality complete protein containing all 9 essential amino acids for humans. Their ratio is close to the ideal amino acid composition recommended by the FAO, and it has high digestibility and utilization.
As yeast is currently the only microorganism with an annual utilization exceeding millions of tons by humans, its production and utilization conditions are highly mature. Simultaneously, its characteristic of being rich in high-quality protein provides a beneficial source and pathway for humans to obtain new protein resources.
Yeast, similar in form to an egg, besides protein, also contains abundant minerals and B vitamins. Its "eggshell" contains high-quality polysaccharide dietary fiber components. During the production and extraction of yeast protein, some of the original dietary fiber, minerals, and vitamins in the yeast can be retained. The dietary fiber in yeast is mainly β-glucan, whose structure is slightly different from the β-glucan in oats. Yeast β-glucan has been found to have certain health benefits in immune regulation, gut health, and anti-inflammation.

New Cognitive Health Innovative Formula Product, Scientifically Evidenced Hair Health Product
In mid-August, Jupiter Neurosciences, a foreign clinical-stage pharmaceutical company, launched a new dietary supplement product called Nugevia MND to support cognitive and brain health. The product's formula consists of a combination of resveratrol and turmeric, aimed at supporting "memory, clarity, executive function, and mitochondrial function of brain cells" in the silver-haired demographic. The product form is capsules. It is worth mentioning that the resveratrol used in the product formula is not ordinary resveratrol raw material; it utilizes the JOTROL™ delivery platform to enhance the ingredient's bioavailability, allowing resveratrol to better unlock its benefits while also avoiding gastrointestinal issues. This is also the company's core technology.

As Weight Loss Drugs Stir a $100 Billion Storm, Food Giants Like Nestlé and Danone Bet on New Products!
"'Miracle drugs,' 'obesity treatments,' and 'slimming shots,'" CNBC said, "'whatever you call them, few medications have had as transformative an impact on both Wall Street and waistlines in recent decades as GLP-1s.'"
On August 15, 2025, Novo Nordisk's blockbuster drug Wegovy (semaglutide) injection received accelerated FDA approval for treating MASH (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis). This is also the first GLP-1 drug approved for treating MASH.
The potential of GLP-1 drugs in treating obesity and diabetes, along with other health conditions, has caused their sales to soar, opening up a huge global market.
In 2023, global sales of GLP-1 drugs were approximately $40 billion, and by 2032, they could reach nearly $150 billion (CAGR of 15.8%). The report points out that as the global incidence of diabetes and obesity continues to rise, demand for GLP-1 drugs is expected to surge.
Since the monthly cost of GLP-1 drugs can exceed $1,000, health insurance coverage for these medications has become a key factor for some Americans when choosing jobs.
Among 1,300 US respondents, 67% said they would be "likely" or "very likely" to stay in a job they dislike to maintain health insurance coverage for drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy.
It is noteworthy that these drugs have already changed people's consumption patterns and lifestyle habits, with the most obvious impact seen in the food and beverage industry.

Hubei Accelerates International Multimodal Transport Construction, Expands "Overseas" Channels
It was learned from a press conference held by the Hubei Provincial Government Information Office on the 3rd that Hubei, as the central hub of the Yangtze River "Golden Waterway" and the north-south corridor, is accelerating the construction of an international "rail-water-road-air" multimodal transport system to expand its international transport network.
Dou Huidong, Deputy Director of the Wuhan Railway Regulatory Administration, stated that in recent years, the freight service capabilities of the China-Europe Railway Express (Wuhan) and rail-water intermodal transport have continuously improved, forming an international multimodal transport service network for Hubei penetrating deep into Eurasia, which has become an important transport channel for the import and export of foreign trade enterprises in Hubei.
Dou Huidong introduced that the variety of goods transported by the China-Europe Railway Express (Wuhan) is increasingly diverse. Products originating from Hubei, such as optoelectronics, machinery manufacturing, new energy vehicles and auto parts, and photovoltaic products, can reach Europe and Central Asia directly via the train service. Currently, the China-Europe Railway Express (Wuhan) operates 58 stable cross-border transport routes, radiating to 40 countries and 120 cities and regions across Eurasia.
Additionally, 13 port areas in Hubei have achieved rail-water intermodal transport. With the opening of the "Yangtze River Train + Hanya Direct Shipping" international multimodal transport channel this year, goods from Sichuan can arrive at Wuhan's Yangluo Port by train and transfer to cargo ships bound directly for Japan and South Korea. Intermodal transport bases like Yangluo Port adopt methods such as "direct customs declaration, no transshipment needed, one ticket for overseas shipment," significantly reducing transit time and cost. Currently, Yangluo Port has over 40 multimodal transport channels.
